Paull and Cathy Carpenter are the proud owners of Carpenter Crane. They are a husband-and-wife team with well over 30 years experience in the crane industry!

Paull CarpenterPaull Carpenter is truly passionate about Cranes. He simply says, “I like cranes. I like talking about them, working on them and mostly operating them.” Not only is he well respected by his customers and manufacturers, but even by his competitors. Paull is truly the definitive “Crane Guy.”

Paull's vast knowledge has stemmed from the ownership, maintenance, repair and operation of an enormous assortment of cranes including: Boom Trucks, Industrial Carry Decks, Cab Down Rough Terrains, Hydraulic Truck Cranes, All Terrains, Mechanical Draw Works Crawler Cranes, HyLab Crawler Cranes, Lattice Boom Truck Cranes, Rail Mounted Mechanical Draw Works Cranes, Telescopic Boom Hydraulic Crawler Cranes, Pedestal Mounted Hydraulic Cranes, Corner Mounted Digger Derricks, Barge Mounted Lattice Boom Crawler Cranes, Hammerhead Tower Cranes, Luffing Tower Cranes, Self-erecting Tower Cranes…well, we think you get it – he's run them all! In addition, Paull has experience with all levels of lift enhancements, and accessorial options for all the aforementioned cranes.

Paull Sr. and EdwardIt was Paull's father, Paull M. Carpenter, who although was never part of the business, was ever so active in promoting it. If he saw steel beams on a trailer at a rest stop, he would wheel in and hand out business cards. He genuinely had his heart in it and was surely proud of his only child! Cathy and Paull actually first met when their fathers shared a hospital room. Their fathers quickly became the best of friends and continued this friendship until Paull Sr. passed away in May 2002. Paull is the proud father of daughter Madeline and stepdaughter Darcy and they are the light of his life!

Cathy CarpenterCathy Carpenter is married to a crane operator, her father was a crane operator and her brother is a crane operator – so I guess it's in her blood. Her love of cranes began as a child. Her father is Edward (Slim) Welch who for his entire work career was in the construction industry. Even now at 80 years old, he continues to work as a consultant (including for Carpenter Crane)! Cathy's fondest memories are of watching her dad operate a crane. Part of her vocabulary as early as 8 years old included “P & H Crawler, D-8, Low Boy,” and still her favorite, “Jake Brake!”

Cathy's brother, Chris Welch, is currently a crane operator and is also well respected in the crane and construction industry. Chris is one of those multi-talented people that all employers relish in finding. As well as his expertise as a crane operator, he is also a superb oversize load driver, mechanic, welder, fabricator, and as of late – a furniture builder!

The first time Cathy sat in a 75-ton crane, she knew she had found her true calling. With Paull as her mentor (as well as husband and best friend), she has developed a love for the crane industry too. One of her greatest joys was operating the Crane to set the boxes for their own home!
